@lzhu5 identified a possible memory leak in the Fortran BMI example (see discussion in csdms/help-desk#104). A simple call to the valgrind memcheck tool should be included in the continuous integration to catch problems like this.

It would be straightforward to add this to the C and C++ examples, as well.
