Feature Request: Interactive Layer Visibility Control for DAKBoard Pro

Dear DAKBoard Development Team,

I’m currently using DAKBoard Pro to create a Family Communications Center, and I’ve been attempting to create an interactive way to switch between different content groups on a single screen. The goal is to make the screen dynamic and personalized for each family member, allowing easy toggling between content like calendars and to-do lists via interactive buttons.

Summary of the Goal:

• Interactive Content Groups: I would like to set up buttons that allow users to switch between different content groups on the Family Communications screen. Each group represents specific content for different family members or shared information:
  • J Group: Includes J calendar, to-do list, and notes.
  • S Group: Includes S calendar, to-do list, and notes.
  • F Group: Includes a shared family calendar, to-do list, and other shared notes.
  • Always Visible Elements: There are also layers (like my sons to-do list and any general content that starts matched my need) that should always remain visible regardless of which group is active.

Desired Functionality:

• Buttons to Toggle Content: Ideally, buttons would allow the user to select a specific group (e.g., J Group, S Group, F Group), and only the content within that group would be displayed on the screen.
• Layer Visibility Control: This would require the ability to dynamically adjust the visibility of different content blocks based on which button is pressed, without having all layers visible at the same time.

I attempted to use custom HTML, JavaScript and the API to control the visibility of layers, but due to the restrictions related to iframe sandboxing and internal limitations of DAKBoard, I wasn’t able to achieve the desired outcome. The DAKBoard support team confirmed that this type of control isn’t currently supported.

Feature Request:

I’m requesting a feature that allows for more dynamic control over layer visibility—either through improved JavaScript access to layers, more robust CSS customization capabilities, or native support for interactive buttons that can toggle visibility between content groups.

This feature would make DAKBoard even more versatile, especially for families or teams that want a more interactive experience tailored to different members or contexts.

I am trying to do the same thing. @FrankinDAK why did the API path not work for you?

So i guess the API has some restrictions related to iframe sandboxing and internal limitations of DAKBoard. I kept getting a connection error everytime I reached out to the api. The DAKBoard support team confirmed that this type of control isn’t currently supported.
