Sounds interesting to do a an apt-get update (safe) && apt-get upgrade (might be dangerous) on the upgrade008.sh. There might be a lot of out of date dappnodes that has the packages and/or the kernel out of date.

The recent security host updates might not be enough

Well, update won't hurt anyone, but will let know people who are bit more into Linux that it may be time to update their machines when they log in into terminal.
