add rule 45 reports to meeting pages #339
Comments
the reports are also published on the clerk's site, so may not need to make continuing FOIA requests. https://www.chicityclerk.com/legislation-records/journals-and-reports/council-meeting-reports?q=legislation-records/journals-and-reports/council-meeting-reports&field_year_value=All&field_report_subcategory_target_id=56&page=0 |
@fgregg this is a great idea. Were you thinking of just linking straight to the source PDFs or doing OCR on their contents? The page you linked to looks pretty scrapabale and we could match to Councilmatic events based on Committee name and date. |
i was thinking of linking to the pdf docs on document cloud. don’t see a lot of possibility for extracting structured data from them. but we should talk to the triibe and matt first of all. |
cool. do you want me to pick this up now or wait until you're back? |
it’s absolutely up to you. i chatted with matt about this and told him you
might want to pick this up and if not i would be in touch after my leave

Let me know your thoughts either way! Mentioned this to the triibe folk
last night and they sounded interested.

@red-bin heyo! I'd love to meet with you and the Triibe folks about this. Can you email me at [email protected]? |
@red-bin and the triibe have foiaed hundreds of thousands of rule 45 committee reports. https://twitter.com/foiachap/status/1629168179799793666
these are reports that are required to be reported out of a committee meeting that give a summary of what happened and detail the outcome of any votes.
matt's FOIA goes back to 2010, which is basically when our data begins too.
it would be great to work with matt and the triibe to add links to the relevant docs in our meeting pages, and see we can get these reports moving forward.
