Bug: "Every Year" - Incorrect Audio, or Incomplete Answers? #752
Comments
Having the same problem: #768 (comment) |
Have you enabled offline audio in the app's settings? If so, the audio might've been saved on your device and never updated. Try toggling offline audio off, choosing to delete the saved data, and back on again. We probably need a way to refresh that automatically when Wanikani updates their audio. |
That's not the problem here, unfortunately, but I do agree that the offline audio being out of sync could be a complicating factor for other audio issues. I did use offline audio and when I opened that, it said under the Status section "Up to Date" and 26-something MB of data. After turning offline audio off and deleting it, and re-enabling it, it is still "Up to date" and the file size is 36.5 MB, so clearly it was not "up to date" previously. As for these specific words, I just looked up the vocab for "every year" after re-installing the offline audio fresh, and the first pronunciation is "mainen" which is still not an accepted spelling; same for "every month" saying "maigetsu" but not accepting that as an answer. There is definitely still a disconnect between the audio file and the accepted answers. |
According to the app, there is only one correct reading for 毎年: maitoshi. However, every time I type that, the voice says "mainen" which it also does not accept as a correct answer, which is wildly confusing. If mainen is a valid reading of that word, then it should be accepted when typed; if it's not, then that audio should be removed.
