You can directly download the latest version of the app from the play store.
Well, that's true if one has a Play Store accoung and the Play Store app installed – but what if not, e.g. because of US politics (think: Huawei), or for privacy reasons (custom ROM with no GApps)? With your app being free (even of trackers, thanks a lot for that!!!) and open-source, mind to make it libre as well and provide the APK? Easiest way for that would be to tag your releases and attach the (signed) APK to its corresponding tag. Submitting it to F-Droid would be another option, they then would take care for building the APK etc (I gladly assist you with that if you wish).
