After running through your readme I got everything working, but I'm getting the error (afert printing the view):

Fatal error: ob_start() [ref.outcontrol]: Cannot use output buffering in output buffering display handlers in /.../system/core/Exceptions.php on line 181

Why is this?
I'm using CI version 2.1.3 & Twig 1.12.2

I haven't used that new version of Twig with this library yet. Let me check and get back to you in a couple of days.
