horizonator for Mars data #3

Has anybody used "horizonator" to render Mars DEM data?
if so, which DEM data did you use?
Kyle (one of the authors) did this work; you should ask him.
what modifications where necessary to adapt 'horizonator' for Mars?
(horizonator-lib.c Rearth = XXX)
I recall the modifications were minor; just stuff to use a different DEM
format

thanks for the update and for horizonator! I'll ask Kyle for details. |
I tried to contact Kyle. unfortunatelly no response (yet). anyone else? |
What are you trying to do? Do you have Mars data? What is it, and where did you get it? |
thanks for asking. I'm trying to use data from here: https://astrogeology.usgs.gov/search/map/mars_mgs_mola_mex_hrsc_blended_dem_global_200m 11GB and before downloading it I wonder is this will (with minor adaptations) serve as good input for 'horizonator'. if you know of any other Mars DEM data, please let me know. |
I don't remember where our DEM came from. Any data that can be massaged into a regular grid can work. The current code accepts SRTM data, so anything that can look like that will work. The code we used had a preprocessing step to massage the data into SRTM-like input, and this was fed into the horizonator. I don't know about the particular dataset you're linking. But 11GB isn't a huge amount, and I would just try it. |
thanks for the update. I'll then try to make the above (11GB) data work for horizonator. |

any pointers/ideas/code is much appreciated. thank
