Hello,

I am getting the following error: DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'Magick.Native-Q16-x64.dll': Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

At this line of code in my ASP.NET MVC 4.8 App:

 private S3Image[] DownloadAndUploadMultipleSizes(string imageUrl)
 {
     try
     {
         using (var client = new WebClient())
         {
             byte[] imageData = client.DownloadData(imageUrl);

             using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(imageData))
             {
                 using (var img = new MagickImage(ms)) // Load image using ImageMagick <-- BREAKS HERE
                 {

My Setup:
IIS on Windows 11 with Visual Studio 2022

Here is what I did:

1. I created ASP.NET MVC 4.8 App
2. Installated Latest Magick.NET-Q16-AnyCPU (14.5.0) via NuGet Package Manager

Here is what I tried:

1. I verified that Magick.Native-Q16-x64.dll is in the "bin" folder of the app
2. I tired giving Read/Write/Execute permissions to IUSR, IIS_IUSRS, and IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool on "‪C:\Windows\Temp" directory

All with no luck.

Any idea how to resolve this?

Have you tried looking at the event viewer? It might give you more information.

Hi Dirk! Thank you for reaching out.
There's not much in the event viewer besides what I already mentioned. My understanding is that IIS has trouble loading unmanaged DLL. I have created a sample .NET 4.8 MVC app in Visual Studio 2022. I am providing a zip file for download. Do you mind taking a quick look? You'd have to build and run under local IIS (I already configured app to do that) Code is in DefaultController.cs .

I don't see anything odd in your project. Maybe something on your machine (e.g. broken antivirus) is blocking this?
