Pellet usage / consumption -> No values

Hallo @dominikamann,
erst mal vielen vielen Dank für dieses wundervolle Modul & Integration.
Sowas werde ich natürlich supporten (donate).

Ich bin seit 2 Tagen glücklicher Besitzer einer Ökofen Pellematic Compact (14 KW).

Ich konnte die Anlage mit dem Addon auch super einbinden und erhalte soweit alle Werte, ausgenommen die verbrauchten Pellets (heute, gestern etc.).
Muss ich dafür einen zusätzlichen Sensor (im Gewebetank) haben oder liegt es daran dass die Anlage "nur" den Softwarestand 4.0b.hat?
Des Weiteren ist mir noch unklar wie ich den Wert "Pellet Storage Level" auf den tatsächlichen Füllwert stellen (aktuell bei 6.000kg) kann. Oder ist dies auch abhängig des Sensor?

It's a pity that my Compact was delivered with version 4.00 last week. The technician said that would be the most stable version.
Can I simply have Ökofen carry out the update "over the air"?

No, unfortunately no, you have to download the update onto a USB stick and run the update, version 4.0 is not stable at all as it is the first version of a new release with all the problems that follow. I sent Dominik all the data, I don't know, he can send you everything in the private email.

@Macintras For me, it was enough to set the initial filling once (Ökofen Touch-Panel / system). After that, the consumption is automatically deducted. See picture. I do not have sensors in the fabric tank. It is best to let the heating installer do the update. Of course I can forward you the german instruction papers and update details I received from @lucaferrucci. As @lucaferrucci (Ökofen Pro 😉) said, if the other sensors work (values available in HA), then it is related to the old software version.

hello, good morning, the ash measurement function must be enabled in pellematic otherwise it is not available via json.
You must enter the code, consisting of time and date, e.g. time 19:06:25 and date 12/12/23, the password is "0912", additional menus will appear, go to pellematic, settings, ash extraction and enable ash measurement, if you have a compact or a condens the capacity is 6kg, then in home assistant you reload the addon and the size of the ash drawer should appear, consider that the okofen app also sends a notification when the ash drawer is full.

The issue was, that the general tracking of the consumption was disabled. That also meant it was not showing at all.
By entering the code level, I was able to enable the consumption tracking via the storage comtainer. (In German it's called "ZWB" - Zwischenbehälter)
Then it took one period of fully emptying the storage container - for some kind of calibration. After that it worked fine, with showing the yesterday and daily consumption 👍

Hi, thank you for this great integration. I have a OKOFEN Pellematic Compact 12 kW with a pellet tank and an aspiration system. There is no weight sensor and apparently there is no (functioning ?)sensor at all that could allow me to estimate the consumption.

The integration only shows default values, while it is working for many other sensors.

The software version is 4.00b, I tried to update OTA, but it is not working, should I update to 4.02ap via USB ? Is it possible that my Pellematic does not have any weight sensor ?

you have the same problem as me. Dominik & Luca sent me the changelog, only with 4.01 was it even possible to adjust the filling quantity of the pellet tank. According to the documentation, since 4.02 only the consumption display (today / yesterday) and the subtraction from the set delivery quantity have worked, and you do not need a separate sensor in the pellet store.
It only helps to update the system to the current status.

hello, version 4.01 has a baug and forgets the consumption of the previous day, then to increase the accuracy of the warehouse it waits for the intermediate tank to be empty to always suck up 31kg of pellets, it uses the 2 zwb sensors of the tank, the vacuum and the full.

OK, so it means that with newer software version the intermediate tank is no longer filled at a configured hour ? Sounds good.

For now there is no available update via the touch interface. I also did not find any download page on the website. 4.01 and 4.02 are private alpha/beta releases ?

All versions are installed via USB, it is not possible to install via OTA. The download area is accessible to technicians, if you think you are able to carry out the update independently I can send you the data.

@lucaferrucci sent me the update file. It appears to be quite complex, especially with the configuration that may not be restored after.
Is there any official Oekofen procedure to do it ? I cannot believe there is not a document for the technicians. I am also quite surprised it is not updated via the OTA system.

@JGrossholtz this is the reason why I did not do the update myself. There are some documents but they are not really helpful. I will send them to you. I was also very surprised that (F)OTA is not possible. I wrote to Ökofen regarding this issue. They confirmed it -> "Call your installer, he can do the update with the help of a USB-Stick". My installer was not even able to configure the heater optimally. Thanks to @lucaferrucci, my heater now works nearly perfectly ... . He helped me to optimize the configuration 👍 I will may try the update this summer when it's not cold outside 😅

I am also considering another approach, not sure if it is possible :
Do you now if there is any information sent by the heater related with the pellet aspiration ? Then we could find a configuration to avoid hour based filling of the intermediate tank and instead fill it when it is empty.

If you update to 4.02 the problem is solved, calculate the exact consumption. They added the calibration function that done once a year, the system becomes quite accurate. However don't be afraid to run the update, the operation is quite simple, the precaution is to have an empty usb stick, insert it, save all the settings and then update with the new firmware stick, you won't even need to load the settings saved on the first flash drive. To be even more sure, just take a picture of all the settings with your PC or phone and proceed. If you do the operation in the summer to see how it works do you have to wait for the cold again? 😆😆

I finally installed version 4.02a_P yesterday. Now the configuration and optimization can finally start :).

@dominikamann I requested the update via the service (see mail I sent you), the update was installed yesterday by a technician.

Yesterday I set and calibrated the filling tank to ZWB. It is currently still on the "calibrate" function. It will probably take 24 hours to calibrate, right?

But I haven't found a way to set the maximum capacity of the filling tank, which is currently 6,000kg, but I "only" have 4,200kg. Is there a way where I can change that?

@lucaferrucci I'll get in touch the days with the desired data for optimization, thanks again for the offer!

Otherwise, next week I will devote myself to visualizing the data in a chic dashboard. At this point I can recommend an interesting smart clock called Ulanzi, where you can install ESPHome and integrate it into HA. Inspiring status messages from the Pellematic can be displayed on it ;-).

if you followed the technician who did the update in the future you can do it yourself, it's quite simple. for the warehouse capacity you have to do it from the boiler touch screen, it does not change the maximum volume via the web. For optimisation, no problem, you need to give me a description of your system and its distribution in your home, I'll gladly help you without any problems.

no, you have to set a time for the vacuum turbine in the boiler settings, for the first time it empties the tank completely and then fills at the set time and not before

I have a pellematic condens running version 4.00b and have a few issues using the pellet usage (I get a few "ghost values" that mess my measurements up). Maybe running the newest version would fix my issues. Would any of you be willing to provide the update? As I understand it all configuration should be automatically be transfered over to the new version even though a backup never hurts.

What do you call "ghost values". Are they very very high values? I happen to have such values from time to time (32765kg : looks like something related to signed/unsigned values or something similar).

If you have a CAD Touch thermostat, you may need to update it as well. See my post from Oct. 4th and Luca'as answer

if you have the display inside you must update that first with the same procedure, turn it off by unplugging the cables, insert the USB stick, turn it on and let the update complete, then go to the boiler and do the same procedure, but to be safe, since it doesn't matter if you have another USB stick insert it into the boiler and save the settings on USB, it's always better to have it, so if you lose some settings you can load them from USB.
Do you know how to access the menu with the password?
For example you have to take the hours from the clock and the day of the date, I'll attach an example where the password is 1321

Ah ok, the high values could really be caused by the calibration. The problem is that I use the daily usage in a template sensor in HA to convert it to kwh and this value messes my daily use up, so I guess I will have to limit the accepted values in the template sensor (back to reading the jinja2 documentation I guess ;) )

Hello everyone, consider that the machine does the calibration either because it is set manually or after some updates that impact the calibration, I also have the ij Ha sensor for energy calculation, the incorrect value is obtained only in the cases I described, just wait for the pellets in the intermediate tank to finish for the first day after the values ​​are correct.

I just upgraded to 4.04b and everything seems to work, a few things here and there seem to be off but this will probably right itself over the next few days.
The approach I am trying for the measurement errors is using the aviability template in HA, I will let it run for a few days I give you an update when I have a bit more data.

it's normal, it has to empty the tank and after filling it will give you the correct values, I'll wait until tomorrow or it will consume all the intermediate tank

Thanks for the 4.04b files... I'm also having the problem that I'm endlessly stuck in ZWB calibration mode.

It seems like it's doing Suction every hour so is never emptying the hopper. It's been doing this now for 2 days since I upgraded to 4.04b, but it was also doing the same thing for nearly 2 weeks before (from when I upgraded to 4.04a and enabled ZWB)

Any ideas on how to stop it doing this hourly suction? I have rebooted the entire system several times, and manually restarted ZWB calibration on the touch control but nothing seems to help.

I'm still waiting for my first regular refill and cleaning after the calibration so hopefully I know more tonight. Refill and clean is set for 19:00 and this morning the buffer was finally empty. Now it shows the daily consumption again (even though in the new sensor which threw me off)
But one odd thing I noticed is that my daily report email is broken ever since I updated. There is just no content in the email even though I selected graph+csv in the datalogger. Any ideas what is going on there?

For the record, I just did the 4.04a->4.04b upgrade 2 days ago. Things seem to be working fine, but I have the same problem than @n4n4sh1kun : the daily mail report is now empty and has no attached CSV file. Not really dramatic but I was indeed keeping these records and aggregating them so that I have yearly records of the outside temperature in my place (I don't do much with these, but I found it fun to do...). Well, of course, my HA instance does indeed the same !

For the record, here is what I'm using to calculate energy AND get rid of "wrong" values. Not sure that this is perfect : I'd like to combine both the "has_value" and "<32765" criteria but I can't find the correct syntax (hence the last commented line)

The email problem solved itself for me BUT I am using my own email server and don't send the email though oekofen.

Hi, I'm still stuck forever in ZWB Calibration mode. It's doing a brief suction around every hour but thinks it's only using about 2kg of pellets between each suction (PES-32 + 6000kg pellet storage).

The regular scheduled daily cleaning+fill happens at 17:00 each day, but it's been over a week since I last rebooted the system and started calibration (using the calibration button in the touch UI).

Will it ever finish calibrating? Am I missing some critical setting?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I face exactly the same problem, so it isn’t only your installation that is impacted.
I gave (temporarily) up trying and disabled the function because the aspiration every hour or so made me crazy.
I would welcome any solution to get it to work, too…
