Thank you for making such an awesome free program, I had trouble finding good weather radar options for Linux mint until this one. I just have a couple of feature suggestions,

The ability to 2 finger zoom on devices with a touchscreen or at least some zoom buttons on the map.

A distance feature similar to the one on Radarscope.

Distance

Current satellite imagery layer similar to https://weather.cod.edu/satrad/?parms=continental-conus-truecolor-24-0-100-1&checked=map&colorbar=undefined

A NOAA SPC layer from https://www.spc.noaa.gov/

These last two are already available outside of Supercell-wx so they aren't that necessary but it would be awesome to have them all in one place.

Also, I don't know if this is just a problem for me but the theme switching from default to fusion does not do anything and the program stays in light mode.

Thanks!

  • Right now this is accomplished using the mouse wheel or double left/right click.
  • It needs to be made touch friendly.

  • Sure

This can currently be accomplished with placefiles (https://supercell-wx.readthedocs.io/en/stable/user-guide/placefile-manager.html). Here are a few:

I do hope to support this in some form natively in the next year.

A NOAA SPC layer from https://www.spc.noaa.gov/

This can be accomplished easily with a placefile (https://supercell-wx.readthedocs.io/en/stable/user-guide/placefile-manager.html). Here are a couple resources with SPC outlooks:

Fusion is the Default for most Linux desktops. The next release will have additional options to select from, allowing for multiple dark mode selections.

The blueskybust.com placefiles are dependent on graphics from aviationweather.gov. Within the last year or so aviationweather.gov has changed their distribution of those graphics and they are no longer available at the location specified in the placefile, so unfortunately, for the time being, these placefiles will fail to load as the graphic will be a 404 Not Found. It's on my list of things to do to find where these graphics have moved to, if still available for public consumption.
