Environment:

  • Linux Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS
  • Gnome 42.9 running on Wayland
  • Obsidian 1.4.16 installed with apt package
  • Tray version 0.3.5

I checked the "Launch on startup" option in "Settings" > "Community plugins" > "Tray" (I actually unchecked/re-recheck many times in case it would fix the issue). I don't see any error or warning in the GUI or in the console when running from the command line. Meanwhile, the application does not start on next login.

I have no idea how to further debug that but I'm happy to help if you give me some directions.

Open Startup Applications Preferences (Ubuntu built-in application)
Click Add
In the Add Startup Program window, enter the following:

  • Name: Obsidian (though you can enter whatever you want)
  • Command: obsidian (use lowercase)
  • Comment: Obsidian (though you can enter whatever you want)

@Inc44 of course this works as for any other binary you want to launch at startup in gnome. But that does not solve the current issue and hence makes this feature totally useless, at least for Linux users.
