Got a nice JSON endpoint for reporting on the # of threads in my gmail inbox, plus their average days-since-last-message.
https://script.google.com/macros/s/AKfycbw_Y713sRR8_QWF4Sck_UrABdCZzGXMhHmS6Mi5QqX0j9ssU0E8/exec
aka http://bit.ly/dsj_inbox
Done:
* set up automatic retrieval and recording of the gmail stats on a daily basis. scraperwiki? your own codebase?
X DONE in Scraperwiki for now: https://scraperwiki.com/dataset/eq7wjwa/view/g3brisy
Next:
* next data items, gathered into a system you control:
** gmail
** sleep
** exercise
** activity
** hours gaming
** hours programming (emacs + xcode)
** restaurants/bars visited (via foursquare)
* send a morning email. status, instructions, reminders
Big idea:
* Email is DJ's operating system.
* Thus email can be used to prompt DJ for quick responses, i.e. for gathering needed information
* And email can be used to push info to DJ that tends to reinforce the desired behavior -- for example telling him his # of emails, and their age, perhaps in a chart, will inspire him to cut the # down.
* With a tracking pixel we can tell if he saw the email.
* Reflecting his stress, sleep, exercise and other levels back to him will keep him aware of what's important.
* Another metric of stress is how much time is scheduled/accounted for.
* Total # of emails sent/received,
Can any of these do what you want?

Daily email from your boss.
When should you get it? If the interface is strictly email that
limits what you can do with it.
Probably should be a simple link to a page, and it gets increasingly
pushy if you don't click it.
This email can be sent @ 6am. It has whatever can be in it, plus a
link to the web page for interactive content that can't.
---
To do now:
* sync your UP (checks off when done)
* charge your UP (when needed. checks off when done)
* make your plan for today (if you didn't already make one)
Plan for today:
<--- whatever you wrote
<--- whatever is on your calendar
<--- Quest:
Status: Yesterday Lately (10-day EMA)

- Coding <sparkline> 1.5 hrs, 2.1 hrs
- Gaming <sparkline> 1.5 hrs, 1.5 hrs
- Inbox Threads <sparkline> 85, 70
For each, color from Green to Red indicating whether it's OK or a problem to be aware of.
Plan for tomorrow: <text entry box and submit button>

* today's coding is all TDD
* read for 30 minutes in a row

On flight to PR!
* send a daily email saying hi
* set up observation timeseries table
* retrieve and import observations from each of your endpoints
* set up daily stat table
observation
* id
* obs_datetime
* obs_type_id
* obs_var_one <--- string
* obs_value <--- string or float? the advantage of string being that you can have an obs_type like "saw someone" and a string value
observation_type
* id
* name
* definition
note
* id
* note_text
daily_obs
* id
* obs_date
* obs_type_id
* obs_value <--- string or float?
retrieval <--- this is our packrat table that stores everything
we retrieved from anybody in raw form. that way if
there's a problem we can reprocess it later.
* id
* retrieval_datetime
* retrieval_URI
* retrieval_result
Put the thing up in RoR on heroku. Does that mean it's gotta be
postgres? Lord knows it doesn't matter much.
