Why there's still .sc shortcode files in the core?

Why there's still .sc shortcode files in the core, like for instance here: https://github.com/e107inc/e107/tree/master/e107_core/shortcodes/single ?

This code is hard to mantain and search, couldn't this be already transfered to methods, ie function sc_xxxx ?
