Let's make sure issue is not already fixed in latest builds first.

Steps to reproduce

From a fresh installation and clean workspace:

  • Open any file
  • Open the find/replace overlay in that file
  • Optional: Add content to the find input field (to better see how small it becomes)
  • Reduce horizontal size of the editor area until the search option toolbar disappears

This happens very late. In my case, not even a single character is visible anymore before the search option toolbar disappear:

I would expect that the options toolbar to disappear earlier, such that the minimum remaining size of the text box is higher.

This issue may be environment-dependent, such as on the used theme.

Tested under this environment:

  • OS & version: Ubuntu 24.04.1, GNOME 46
  • Eclipse IDE/Platform version (as shown in Help > About): I20241115-1800

  • I understand reporting an issue to this OSS project does not mandate anyone to fix it. Other contributors may consider the issue, or not, at their own convenience. The most efficient way to get it fixed is that I fix it myself and contribute it back as a good quality patch to the project.
