UBDC, Glasgow

The UBDC brings together interdisciplinary expertise of urban social scientists and data scientists from the University of Glasgow and six partner universities of Edinburgh, Bristol, Cambridge, Reading, Sheffield and Illinois-Chicago to address social, economic and environmental challenges facing cities.

• Bob Downie, Where do Glasgow’s cyclists cycle and how do we know? — discusses a variety of data sources relevant to cycling in Glasgow.

• Karen Macpherson, Using weather data to understand usage of Glasgow’s cycle hire scheme

• Yeran Sun, Using social media, app and sensor data to inform transport planning

• Spatial Urban Data System Prototype Interface — provides a platform for high resolution (census output areas) transport availability analytics across the United Kingdom

• Glasgow in Motion — map illustrating various layers of UBDC data (e.g. use of public spaces, physical movement of cyclists, pedestrians) to build a dynamic, interactive picture of Glasgow.
