SkyWater released s130 V2.1.305 some time back (November 4, 2022). Some rules were modified that affect our tapeout procedure: (1) The MR rule deck was expanded, and (2) the metal density rules were changed.
The release notes for v305 suggest that the metal density rules for diffusion and poly were relaxed, not tightened (window is the same, step changed from 70um to 350um). There is no mention in the release notes of a change in the metal density rules other than that the rules were changed from the confusing "clear area" density to drawn layer density. However, SkyWater gave us push-back over a logo in a user area, suggesting that metal density checks are stepped, and not computed over the entire chip area (It is also possible that something was wrong in our own check and that our klayout deck failed to compute the correct density on this particular user project).
