Talking points

• This is an informational monitoring system; this is not a warning system.
• Stream data analysis does not take the place of more specific data such as mountaintop saturation readings, but it seems to provide a meaningful proxy for these factors. This should be seen as a complement to a saturation-based analysis, not a replacement.
• Strengths:
  • It's a relatively simple analysis.
  • River gauges have been reliable over a period of decades.
  • There is enough historical data to establish a baseline for correlation-based analysis.
