Invalid room link generated for gitter.im

Steps to reproduce

If I "copy the room link" in Element Desktop (or Web too BTW), https://matrix.to/#/#aboutcode-org/fosdem-2024:gitter.im is the link copied

But this is a dead, invalid link.
It should have been
https://app.gitter.im/#/room/#aboutcode-org/fosdem-2024:gitter.im

What happened instead?

https://matrix.to/#/#aboutcode-org/fosdem-2024:gitter.im is a dead link, meaning I cannot share this room

@alpianon @zacchiro you both reported the issue and this looks like an Element bug.

Element only generates matrix.to links, it has no concept of what Gitter is. Sounds like your issue is that the matrix.to link doesn't work with slashes. Which is nearly the same as matrix-org/matrix.to#288

Not an Element issue.
