Your use case

What would you like to do?

I'm now running sliding-sync. It works fine now on my mobile phone (Android). However, I would like to leverage Matrix 2.0 / sliding-sync on my desktop PC as well!

Why is Element X only for mobile!?

Why would you like to do it?

I want to get improved performance of Matrix under my desktop PC using sliding-sync. Now I have converted my homeserver to support sliding-sync.

How would you like to achieve it?

Release Element X for desktop.

Have you considered any alternatives?

Looking into Settings -> Labs. I can't find Element X / sliding-sync feature to join.

Sliding Sync is available in Labs on Element Web/Desktop. You have to enable labs via config.json.

@melroy89 this is an issue tracker, not a support room. Visit the Matrix support room.

Instead of editing a config.json. You can enable this feature by (thank you @ninchuka for helping):

  1. Typing in chat: /devtools.
  2. Check developer mode checkbox (to enable devmode)
  3. Then you can go to Settings -> Labs
  4. Under 'Developer' you can see the option "Sliding Sync Mode".

For others and full transparency. There are also down-sides to sliding sync mode for now, read:
