Steps to reproduce

After updating Windows Desktop client to 1.11.88, and then to 1.11.89, people using Android client 1.6.24, and possibly others, cannot see the text of replies; they do see the quoted message. The reply text does show in the notification for the message and long touching it shows the reply text. This does not happen with posts from these versions, only replies. There are at least three people, including myself, having the problem on our Android clients.

This also happens with replies made with the current web client.

Using desktop v1.11.87 to edit an "invisible" reply fixes it, allowing the Android client to display the text,

To reproduce this, use Desktop client 1.11.88 or 1.11.89 or the web client to reply to a message. Then view the reply in the Android client. Only the quoted message is displayed; the text of the reply is invisible.

I opened this as an issue in desktop client and was referred here.

I can send logs if desired. I don't know what a PR is, but I'm willing to send one if I can.

Outcome

I expected text of replies to messages to be visible in the Android client. Instead, the Android client does not display the text of the reply.

I googled (should have done that before)... I lied above. I cannot provide a PR. Sorry.

Same, I submitted this at Desktop and then sent here. Same experience on multiple Android devices - Pixel, Samsung

AFAIK, there was a fallback in the legacy Android Element client that got removed, which led to replies being missing/invisible. This was fixed in the latest release of legacy Element Android, (current version is Element Android v1.6.26) which is perhaps not distributed yet on the play store?!

P.S. But this is all about the legacy Android client and not Element "X"
