there is no visual feedback when clicking on "confirm" inside "check spec", only when developer tools are open, you see that something is happening in the background

Make sense.
It will be useful to have some feedback in that case.

Just want to clarify that feature goal.
The idea is to have some mapped work items to your specification and you want to see the effect of changes to your specification to your mapping. BASIL distinguish 2 issues: error and warning

Error in case the mapped section in your specification no longer exists in the new version (something changed in the content)
Warning in case the mapped section still exists but is at different offset (that can be automatically fixed by the tool if you move to the new version or if you create a new version of the software specification cloning another one)

In this case you are presenting, I think you don't have any work items mapped to the specification.
So the tool is not returning anything. But I understand is not clear from the UI now...
