Goal

Identify data structures used in the kernel that have a critical role and target these with software fault induction tests, to verify the effectiveness of kernel mitigations (e.g. stack canaries) and/or system mitigation or detection mechanisms

Proposed steps

  • Frame the idea as a 'one-pager' research topic proposal
  • Discuss potential data structures to target and mechanics of fault induction in Linux Features WG
  • Discuss with Shuah as a possible testing-focused LF mentorship project
