Discussion with Eclipse SDV Process SIG (re-cap)

  • Meeting notes can be found here: https://github.com/elisa-tech/wg-systems/wiki/Dec-02,-2024-%E2%80%90-16:00-UTC-%E2%80%90-Meet-Eclipse-SDV
  • Funding discussion: Can we put it somewhere into existing projects HAL4SDV and SHIFT2SDV as the topic fits to their goals? Take this also into VDA. Go directly to HAL4SDV and FEDERATE.
  • Eclipse SDV and ELISA relationship: Exchange on that level: This comes out of one initiative, this comes out of the other. This is how we not confuse developers. Keep a smaller alignment round once a month to keep everybody synced.
  • SCORE not discussed.

Project Proposal: Good Quality Practices in Open Source [cont.]

  • Worked on gdoc draft to work for the LFE requests: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Uzp4-mAAOd9uMhyKx5Vaa0C8Mq5w1IxhHFAgyE0I9p0
  • Next steps towards operation:
    1. Conclude on the work packages, goals, rough timeline (efforts) by early January.
    2. Prepare survey to be published with press release.
    3. Use this as base for a press release to get attention --> Issued by Linux Foundation Europe
      • The press release should also include the interested parties.
      • It should trigger new members to join.
      • Execute a survey.
    4. VDA is a forum to advertise the new project.
      • HAL4SDV & FEDERATE would be an option for project members to place work in there.
    5. Members should fund the newly created project.
  • ELISA submitted one talk to CHAOSS con in Brussels to talk about metrics/KPIs for OSS best practices.
    • Work out in January what we could consider as useful metrics as in scope of CHAOSS

Eclipse Score project & Systems WG

Evolution of Systems WG example system (will continue next time)

  • Status Quo: Xilinx ZCU102 (partially qemu) system with Xen, Zephyr & Linux (petalinux) running in gitlab ci.
  • Idea: Evolve the existing system towards "community friendly hardware" & Qemu on ARM Server.
    • Generate System BOM for the setup.
    • Change petalinux to other Linux like AGL.
    • migrate from GitLab to GitHub for the CI.
    • HW candidate is raspberry pi 5 and ARM graviton-
    • AGL generates SBOM using yocto SBOM generation.
  • need to look in to how to come to next reproducible build
  • InfoMagnus and ARM would like to support in setting up GitHub pipelines and tools to create SBOM databases.
  • Focus topic for the beginning of the year

AoB

    • SHIFT2SDV succeed the HAL4SDV (basically implementing the results into production)
    • ELISA and COVESA VSS are mentioned in the original project proposal. Kuksa will also be in there.
  • Years end break. Next meeting Jan 06
