Building the next generation of connected smart contracts

Chainlink is a decentralized oracle network that enables smart contracts to securely access off-chain data feeds, web APIs, and traditional bank payments. Chainlink is consistently selected as one of the top blockchain technologies by leading independent research firms such as Gartner. It is well known for providing highly secure and reliable oracles to both large enterprises (SWIFT) and leading smart contract development teams (Web3 Foundation, Wanchain, OpenLaw, Zeppelin, Accord and more).

How to qualify

Projects must successfully integrate Chainlink to qualify. The smart contract should demonstrate that the Chainlink node is responding to a request from the contract and is performing an action based on the answer provided by Chainlink. Projects are free to use other tools and can also qualify for other award submissions.

For anyone intending to use pricing / market data (stablecoins/DeFi/token conversion/what-be-it), I'm here from Kaiko as a node operator and data provider on Chainlink - shoot us a line on Telegram for guidance on considerations for proper interpretations, discussing use-cases or support with Chainlink. We're also happy to provide free API keys for hackers intending to use our off-chain API during the hackathon.

When dissecting Chainlink's whitepaper, a staking system coined "Chainlink Reputation System" is detailed to attach a financial value to the validity of oracle aggregated data. The reputation system is logical but is not incorporated in version one of Chainlink's main net protocol. At the moment, Chainlink oracles can theoretically be affected by 3rd parties incentivized to manipulate API data.

We created a bridge contract between Augur and Chainlink. This contract can call external API's through Chainlink's smart contracts and operators. An individual user, market creator, or group can create a "disputeMarket" bond if an outcome is deemed invalid. The result of the "disputeMarket" on Augur is the final used as the final output for the contract.

By incorporating a secondary layer of security via Augur's dispute mechanism, we remove the financial incentive for a Chainlink Oracle Node to operate in bad faith.

We use Chainlink as our main data provider for resolution on events.
