Is there a way to automatically expand sections in the table of contents?

I use JupyterBook to teach classes and put my notes up there, and I would like to have Notes for a particular week (the week we are in currently) to be auto-expanded.

Something like this (let's say we're in week 3):

There used to be a config setting called expand_subsections: true that I used, but it was deprecated with a TOC revamp.

Anyone have any suggestions? I tried the max_depth settings, but didn't have much luck.
