OS WinError following get started with dev board tutorial - connecting to board via mdt

What I ran

mdt devices

What the docs said should happen

You should see output showing your board hostname and IP address
e.g. orange-horse (192.168.100.2)

What actually happened

OSError: [WinError 10049] The requested address is not valid in its context

The same error is returned when running mdt shell or mdt wait-for-devices. Any ideas? This is my first time using a dev board so apologies if I missed something critical that wasn't outlined in the tutorial.
