Khadija (she / her)

How I get my best work done

  • I am a visual learner - I enjoy watching videos and doodling about when learning something new.
  • Through repetitive learning - I like to take in as much information as I can first then implementing what I've learnt on a few projects while referring back to my notes and other resources.
  • I prefer to be in a calm and quiet environment when working.
  • I like lists and organised steps to doing something.

The role I usually take in a team 💼

  • I like adding final touches ✨ to projects I'm working on- whether it be readmes, hackmds or webistes
  • I don't prefer any roles specifically but if I there is a bit of confusion in what we are doing I try to give directions/suggestions whenever I think it can help

My communication style 💬

  • I prefer to explain things visually , I might try to show you an example online or sketch something out. However, if I have to use my words, I like to take sometime to collect my thoughts an think about how I will structure my words. Otherwise I will just be blabbering and confuse myself and everyone else.
  • I'm sometimes extremely quiet 🤐 when we are having discussions - this doesn't necessarily mean I'm not paying attention or I'm uninterested. I just like to take my time/give others time before giving my input because its not always necessary and will just result in more confusion or miscommunication.

🏅 What I value

  • Patience ⌚ - everyone does things differently so I believe we should let people take their time to do that.
  • Acts or words of care and kindness 💓
  • Humour

🙈 What people misunderstand about me:

  • I am a bit too straightforward sometimes and might come across as rude or inconsiderate - this is not the case and its just that I haven't thought through what I am saying and haven't been able to find the best wording for it. I am actively trying to be more mindful of the things I say and how I say them

🔊 How I like to get my feedback:

  • Be as honest as you can and if it's possible do tell me why you feel what I did is wrong (not just the thing I did) just so that I can understand and better myself.

💪 Technical strengths & weaknesses:

  • I've really enjoy React so far and I'm always looking forward to using it

Weaknesses

  • Testing
  • Promises

😍 Interests (programming or otherwise!):

  • Cooking (when it doesn't feel like a chore, which is almost always)
  • Enjoy puzzles, but really bad at it 😂
  • Currently a movie/tv shows freak

Khadija is full of excellent ways to do things that you haven't thought of. She is great to work with, patient with everyone and tries to understand all perspectives. She is also an excellent communicator because of a desire to show you what she means rather than tell you.

She is always able to suggest new tools and have a lot of gadgets in her arsenal which really helps to write code or plan a project. Khadija tends be a quiet person. It is always great to work with her as she is always communicating clearly and never rejects an opportunity to explore new things.

Khadija is amazing: she has a razor-sharp programming mind, effortless emotional intelligence, endless optimism and she's also a clear, patient and thoughtful teacher. She's a complete treat to work with, especially when building a mental picture of what we want and how we'll get there.
