Monthly Special-Event SIGs #224
Comments
@robmoffat - happy to do a Git Proxy session. Would love to do a session on open-source security too (back to my roots); i.e. vulnerability management, supply chain security as part of OSR (assuming it is relevant and applicable here). Thoughts? Could collab on it too? |
awesome, thanks Jamie! Security sounds like an excellent topic too - definitely in scope. |
@pcheong-lbg , @HelloKay27 @mimiflynn , you interested in presenting about something? |
Would be good to slot in talks about: ... if we can find some interesting speakers to come along on these topics |
I'm on board with this and will check with Ashley. |
Shane Coughlan would like to talk to the OSR SIG about OpenChain (standards for Supply Chain and License Compliance). I think this would be an excellent addition to the agenda. Anyone have any objections to me scheduling something with him? |
None from me. I want to learn more as well. On Jan 23, 2024, at 8:29 PM, Rob Moffat ***@***.***> wrote:

👋 I would love to introduce Woodchip, our OSS contribution governance platform. It's based on GitProxy with some extra enterprise bits. |
I would like to have a meeting about Talent Acquisition and Retention any thoughts on how we should address that? |
Wish I could share the NPS / people performance for team doing open source right from my past employer - could share some things we have done in the past |
Feature Request
Based on the SIG meeting on 6th December, I'd like us to start workshopping themes for each month's main OSR sig meeting (the first one). The second one we'll continue to use more as a "working group" and discuss PRs and documentation efforts etc.
I've added in some recent suggestions (mainly to keep track of them). Apart from Feb 7th, this is all up for grabs.
###2024 Meetings:
Feb 7th : discussion of Open Source as Strategy. @victorjunlu to prepare a deck for this. Expected to feed into new maturity checklist (Maturity Model / Checklist Process #200)
Mar 6th: @pholleran and Ashley Wolf from GitHub to do an AMA?
Apr 3rd: @JamieSlome to do a session on GitProxy
May 1stL Shane Coughlan - OpenChain
Jun 5th: 8Knot with Cali Dolfi from Red Hat
Jul 3rd Clashes with 4th July Independence Day
Aug 7th: Miss due to holidays, perhaps?
Sep 4th: : @mlehotskylf @dealako EasyCLA
Oct 2nd:: Clashes with OSFF
Nov 6th:: @tsteenbe - ORT
2025 Meetings
Jan 8th: @tsteenbe ORT / SBOMs.
Feb 5th: : FOSSID with Gary Armstrong
Feb 19th: Tobias from CyberFame - Introduction to CyberFame, Security Ergonomics Metrics
Mar 5th: Governance panel, with Katrina (Citi), @psmulovics (MS) and Dan Gisolfi (Discover). TBD.
Apr 2nd: @copiesofcopies - Legal aspects of Open Source in large organisations
Open Source projects turning commercial (Redis, Hazelcast, Camunda, OpenToFu) - can we have a discussion about this?
Further discussion about EU legal changes affecting Open Source
AI Open Source License Issues ( Cara ). Mistral AI? MS?
Organisation
I encourage everyone to come along and edit this issue and fill it up with suggestions! After that, you'll "own" that meeting and be expected to help organise the content / speakers for it, as well as write a blog article a week or so in advance to help with marketing.
Recordings
Ideally, I would like to record these sessions and make them available to FINOS marketing to convert into video format. This is something they are looking at doing with FDC3 meetings (e.g. this one. Also we should add to the OSR website itself for posterity.
Marketing
I'll engage with the FINOS marketing team and get them to help us market these on our usual channels to help us build an audience for each one. Also we can add to the OSR blog as we go.
