Build command example

Is there an example of using the build command? I put in "npm run start" in my project config but nothing happens on F5. I also tried "cmd.exe npm run start".
I filled out working directory as well.

Sorry, that is still not working. Nothing happens when I press F5. Can I test it by putting a known command into the build_command? I tried putting cmd.exe in the build_command, but still nothing.

Does it show the build panel at least? Does it highlight the key binding yellow (which would indicate binding conflicts)?

If you open the command dialog (Alt-X by default), find the command there and execute it, what happens? It should be called Build: Debug Build and Run

It does not show the build panel when I press F5. The key binding is white. The option Build: Debug Build and Run does not appear in the list when I press Alt-X - only "Buld: Clear Build Output" and "Build: Kill Running Command".

Is it supposed only to be used with compiled languages, or should it work with any command line program?

In this case the config file appears not to be loaded properly. Does it say that the config you're editing is active like below?

What version of the editor are you on? Can you share the whole config?

Your build commands are misconfigured in the config file you attached. I gave you a properly configured version above, did you actually try it?

To clarify, I needed to uncomment [Debug Build And Run] to get it working.
