Re: the copy assets to phase feature, from a comment by @xmedr while writing user docs:

The language for this feature might be misleading. If this is language that they've chosen then that's fine, but I keep thinking this will keep the assets on the source phase and add them to the destination phase, as opposed to moving them from one to the other.

It seems like the code and our docs use the term "promote", maybe that's the alternative here?
