Can I use franka_ros2 with Ubuntu 22.04 without having to get the premium subscription for Ubuntu?

Hi @shortcastovercoffee ,
of course. franka_ros2 works for Ubuntu 20/22/24 - 22 is just the most convenient one because you have all ROS 2 humble stuff easily downloadable (or you just use our docker devcontainer with Visual Code).

With 22.04 you also get the RT kernel without needing the premium subscription. If you go to https://frankaemika.github.io/docs/installation_linux.html and scroll down, you will find a link to install the RT kernel for Ubuntu 22.04.

Cheers,
Andreas

Did you mean 20.04? because when I read the documentation it says "For Ubuntu 22.04, we recommend using the Ubuntu Pro real-time kernel. After enabling it, you can skip directly to Allow a user to set real-time permissions for its processes."

I meant the 22.04 - there you can do everything without needing a premium subscription 😄
