I've tried official installation guide https://jupyter.org/install. and It's worked for me.

Run command is OK in both cases. Just official guide replace - to space but It is detail.

Have you checked the difference between jupyter and notebook? I mean, if they are the same, why would both exist?

Jupyter seems as old project which evolve to notebook I supposed by pip information about releases:

Jupyter: https://pypi.org/project/jupyter/#history

Notebook: https://pypi.org/project/notebook/#history

Both projects link to same homepage.

jupyter is a meta package and it installs also notebook. Jupyter also installs some more packages we do not need so I'd rather keep notebook. I'll explain the difference in names on the workshop.

where did you find the info?

I've tried to install both in separated virtual environments and compared the results and the info about meta package and what it installs is on PyPI: https://pypi.org/project/jupyter/
