Currently subscription group have 2 states. Either the user has selected one, and they only see videos from that group, or they haven't, and they get videos from all sources.
There are subscriptions I keep for occasional consumption, things like documentaries or long form podcast which I created a subscription group for. I'm not subscribed to them to watch as they release but to form a library of content I can easily browse when looking for something to watch. Think of it as a "Watch Later" but on a channel basis.
Another use case might be Music, I might want to subscribe to all my favourite bands to have access to their music when I want to, but don't want every single album showing up in my feed.
Currently those videos can really clog up a subscription page, and creating an "Everything Else" subscription group to filter out those "Watch Eventually" subscriptions is not a satisfactory solution.
Proposal
I could see at least two ways to solve it.
One would be to treat subscription groups as filters that can be combined rather than folders. When all subscription groups are selected the user is shown all videos, when only a handful are, they're only shown the aggregated videos of those categories. This way the user can, based on his mood quickly filter their content. An option could also be added on Subscription groups to decide whether they should be on or off by default, so that the user doesn't have to specify their preferred default filters on every restart of the app.
Another, most likely easier to implement as it doesn't require changing subscription group logic, would be to have a simple "Show in General" option for each group, that when unchecked would prevent videos belonging to these channels from being shown in the default view, and only expose them when that specific group is selected.
