as very active yt consumer I have no time to waste on turtle-pace narration of almost all creators, hence I watch most of the videos on maximum speed:
Settings > Player > Default Playback Speed > 2.25
the issue arises when I need to watch a music video. obviously that needs to be played always on speed 1.0
grayjay's method of switching speeds is design-wise nice, however totally inconveniently reachable under 2 seconds. completing my feed, I mostly have no knowledge (as I avoid reading titles) if clicked video is regular or music video. so after opening the video it starts to play on 2.25 speed, then my brain needs to recognize something is wrong as the music is on turbo, then I panic, click onto video to invoke controls (luckily the gear icon is in top right corner), click the gear icon invoking overlay menu, where my stressed-out eyes need to locate playback rate 1.0 (which is one step on left from the middle), press it, return to video which at that point is like 80 seconds in, so I need to struggle again to rewind it to beginning and only then I am able to enjoy the music video. and yes, when it ends I go to switch it back to 2.25 and the loop continues!
suggestion / proposal:
under Settings > Player add Secondary Music Playback Speed and have it bounded to music videos. surely there is some mechanism to differentiate such videos like:
Sources > Youtube > SponsorBlock > Skip Music-Offtopic (eg. if this segment is detected, then video is alleged as music)
and/or if video is on yt placed under Releases tab
and/or if the channel has - Topic suffix (like Madonna - Topic)
or like music videos lack unmute button on preview on youtube.com
or some other method (no way, there isn't one)
even if this would not work 100% of times, we could have it say it is "experimental" feature
