If there is no Joomla specific code in particle - it should work out of box in WP ;) There is currently no admin import/export of particles, but we have it on our list.
how would I determine if there were Joomla specific code in the particle?
are there specific tags or methods to look for?

Glad there are instructions for Joomla!; how could similar migration be conducted between Gantry-based WordPress Themes?
Additionally, are there best practices for aggregating particle resources so that they can be imported via the Gantry backend?
