When you have a TV, that is capable of 3D, then these modifications may come in handy :-)

There are 2 new components:
sbs-color-processor: This component supports the 3D side-by-side movies
ttb-color-processor: This component supports the 3D top-to-bottom movies

  • I also modified the registration.c file, to include these components.
  • conf-file is also modified, with new sections.

My preferred settings (adjust as you like for your own personal taste)

  • For the SBS, set the box-width to half the value of the edge-color-processor box width,
and the box-height to the same value of the box height of the edge-color-processor.
  • For the TTB, set the box-height to half the value of the edge-color-processor box height,
and the box-width to the same value of the box width of the edge-color-processor.

3D side-by-side for ambi-tv
3D Side-by-Side for Ambi-tv
3D Top-to-Bottom for Ambi-tv
Top-top-Bottom for Ambi-tv
added TTB & SBS for 3D
changes for TTB & SBS (3D) sections added

Nice idea - I just have the problem that my computer stops 3D Playback whenever the HDMI2Composite-Adapter is connected. Which one do you use? Did you ever come across this problem, and how did you resolve it? Moreover, do you use a standalone blu-ray-player or a HDMI 1.4 Capable Computer for 3D-Playback?

Thanks for your answer!

Hello,

I never used a computer for playback.
my blu-ray discs are played-back with my PS3, using an hdmi 1.4 cable. the HDMI2composite adapter is the same as referred to by gkaindl.
I think there are various enclosures, but internally they all seem to be identical. (I have several friends with other HDMI2AV adapters, none do have a problem)
I also have a mede8er 600x3D and an Iconbit 3D, they play my downloaded 3D SBS & TTB MKV files file.
For output screens, I have an Epson 3D beamer, an LG 3D TV and a Philips 3D monitor (which does have ambiglow, but that’s nothing compared to the RPI ambi-tv)
Everything is connected with HDMI 1.4 cables, to allow switching automatically.
I don’t think the problem is with the HDMI2AV component, I think the problem may be with your HDMI splitter.
(I’m using a 1.4 HDMI splitter, I remember when using another splitter, the PS3 refuses to play 3D, the Mede8er and Iconbit did play 3D with the „other” HDMI switch, but I had to switch
my beamer and LCD monitors manually to SBS.

I hope this info helps you out a bit, don’t hesitate to ask more questions :-)

Good luck,
Kris

Will this solution work with "normal" picture as well and switch if it recognize 3D (SBS ot TTB) or is it a static solution where you always have to modify and copy the ambi-tv.conf?

Could someone please answer if this will detect 3D video and switch?
