A friend has just got a Nikon Z8 and he found they too have no wireless remotes that don't need a receiver unit

Would the fuji one be able to work with it?

its strange how these modern cameras just rely on apps on your ophone

Thank you for raising a discussion topic, it is certainly an interesting question with an interesting answer.

The control protocols for each manufacturer are distinctly different, thus the Fujifilm implementation will not apply to the Nikon system. And as I have discovered, even within the same manufacturer different cameras operate differently.

Further to this, I have recently acquired a Nikon Coolpix B600 for implementing support. However, the Nikon remote situation is bizarre, to put it politely.
My current aim is to emulate the ML-L7 bluetooth remote, which appears to work with some of the Coolpix range and some of the Z range (but not the Z8, so this will not immediately help your friend).

the matrix of app vs ML-L7 support is perplexing.
Ultimately, if I can emulate the ML-L7, it should eventually be possible to also emulate the remote on SnapBridge (and thus support the Z8).

Agreed. It would be less irritating if the apps weren't terrible quality.

I'm in the midst of understanding the operation of the Nikon ML-L7 and the Coolpix B600.
The control protocol is 1000x more complex than Fujifilm or Canon. It is going to take quite some effort, I am not 100% confident I will succeed.
However, I will persist and provide updates here (but don't expect anything for weeks, if not months).

If you mean 'will the new Nikons support the ML-L7?', then no, I expect Nikon's strategy is to make you pay mega-bucks for their pro-grade wireless control systems.

If you mean 'will furble eventually support new Nikons?', then yes, or at least that is my intent.

What version are you currently using?
Otherwise, skimming the project README gives a reasonable overview of features.

I have tried to download but im not that good on the tech side

I have the m5stick c plus and the original firmware 1.2

when I tried to update I used this link

is that the right one?

nothing seems to happen via esp

do I need to reset the m5 stickc before I update?

If Cancel doesn't do anything, that is a bug and should be fixed.
Please describe what you are doing and I will attempt to reproduce and identify the issue.
