problem with vscode when typing space

When trying to type a new space character to the left of a closing parenthesis, parinfer deletes the space character. This happens when using neovim with vscode, but not directly with just using neovim. I wonder if there's anything that can be done so that parinfer can be used in the context of using neovim through vscode.
