G65 Macro Help

I am attempting to call a G65 macro from the SD card. The macro is saved as P202.macro. SD plug in and expression support enabled. I can call G65P202 from the MDI and the macro performs as expected, but when called from a file it gives me error 39. What humbling small detail have I missed?

Could be that the SD card is not mounted?
Try with setting $650=1 and reboot. Or mount the sdcard with $fm.

Hey Terje, Thanks for the help! Everyday I play with this, the more blown away I am by what you've accomplished. Super cool! I tried both but, unfortunately neither worked. Here are some screen shots. Hopefully shows what I'm doing wrong.

I am only able to replicate this when the SD card is not mounted - which is to be expected, testing with this macro:

I could add a more sensible error to use when failing to open the macro file to make it clearer where ther error is coming from.

I'm seeing $650=1 in the settings, macro files are visible on the SD tab, and $F. I can call the macro from the MDI directly and make it work. Would that be possible if the SD card wasn't mounted? I can a reinstall and see if that helps, but before I do perhaps we should make sure I haven't missed any of the necessary "moving parts."

No. Does the macro I posted above fail in the same way? Asking since the error can come from running code in the macro, not only from starting it.

Yes, I ran your macro from the MDI, you can see that from the screen shot of console. I ran it as G65P202 w/o a parameter from the file and it failed also.

Then it is likely the file fails to open for some reason. My problem is that I am not able to replicate, both a iMXRT1062 and STM32F4xx board works for me.
Have you tried with different SD cards?

I haven't tried a alternate SD yet. I did just try reformatting this one and reloading the macros. I assume Fat32 is acceptable. I also tried reinstalling firmware. Still no success. I did learn something interesting. I built a gcode file that had only the macro call and it worked. So I started adding in lines of gcode until it failed. As soon as I gave it a G0 block it failed.

Ok, I have a check for idle state that fails. Not sure if that should be removed or if I should add a sync call to force idle state before executing G65 calls.
As a workaround for now add a G4P.1 before G65.

The delay worked! I was running test with probing and offset from macro. DRO goes blind to Z axis at the point the probe pin goes high. DRO misses the offset but catches the subsequent moves in the z axis which at first glance is disturbing. Finally catches up by end of program. I'm working on my bench rig, so I don't have the machine to validate. It did this about 8 out of 10 times. Every once in while I'd get lucky and the DRO would keep up. Tested it about 25 times and all G65 attempts were successful.
As for the DRO issue, my favorite developer once said " Complicated....and perhaps one should not strive for perfection and rather accept some imitations." So, I'm super happy with the results. Thanks for the rescue!

I have now removed the idle state requirement.
