Can not git clone repository

The pipe char (|) is illegal in a file name/folder path in Windows (see docs on file naming). Some of our examples are using | in the file name as a demo of the templating functionality (See https://github.com/gruntwork-io/boilerplate/tree/master/examples/java-project for example), which is causing the git clone to explode on Windows.
