catkinization

Has there been any attempt to catkinize this stack? We just glanced at it and it looks like there are a few hang-ups, one of which being the lack of support for python extension modules in the catkin develspace (ros/catkin#640).

I don't know if anyone has currently accepted maintenance responsibilities
for this package since Hai graduated. If anyone is interested in forking
and contributing push requests, I can probably moderate. Cc'ing Hai on this
discussion.

So I would be interested in maintaining this package. I have spent a good amount of time working on the catkinization on our fork (not done yet, unfortunately), and I have some other additions that are in the works which could be valuable.

Is there anyone working on this or in a new version of it? @futureneer I've looked into your fork and tried to just run it and I see it's still a work in progress.
I would like to try it out. Looks like a nice tool with a big potential.
