The Streamer Surf Difference

The most prominent streaming site is Twitch. For some of our data, Twitch is both a source and a model for presentation, as will be discussed in Our Tools.
However, Twitch has conspicuous weaknesses--most notably, the difficulty of making discoveries.
If you're looking for new games, Twitch only gives you two ways to do it: you can browse through popular games, or you can sift through a channel's past gameplay videos. This is very limiting, because each of these methods has problems:
- Popular isn't always right: If you just sift through popular games, you're missing out on relatively little-known games like Bastion that could totally thrill you.
- Others are defining your horizons: If you look at various channels' streamed games, you're relying on their breadth of experience to inform you, narrowing your horizons.
Our website makes vital improvements in the area of discovery. As of Phase II, we allow users to filter games by genre, rating, and studio. For more details, see Streamer Surf Use Cases.
