EXPRESS-STARTER

Connecting to the database locally.

  1. Download the MongoDB community server here (https://www.mongodb.com/try/download/community)
  2. install it by following the default instructions on install wizard
  3. Create folder named 'data' in root folder(C:\ for windows) and then another folder named 'db' inside 'data'
  4. Add environment variables to the system (C:\Program Files\MongoDB\Server\4.4\bin for Windows)
  5. Run commmand 'mongod' in 'cmd' to check if it is installed

  7. Create database named 'tlc' (short for team-lucky-charms) using the MongoDB Community Server's GUI.
  8. Dont forget to run 'npm install' to have 'mongoose' be added to the project
  9. Schema will be added to the MongoDB once we run the server
