Not something of concern for use of Filer in helloSystem, but nonetheless I'd be interested to understand what is going on.
When using the plasmashell Global Menu 2.0 (comes with the KDE desktop by default but has to be configured to show up in a top panel manually), then the menu only shows up for windows, but not for the desktop itself. Why? Does this have to do with some of the X11 window properties we are setting?
This can be reproduced, e.g., by installing Alpine Linux in System Disk Mode, then installing a KDE desktop, then logging into a X11 (not Wayland!) session, then configuring plasmashell Global Menu 2.0, then starting Filer.
If one kills the plasmashell and then launches helloSystem/Menu, then it works...
