closing copyq, restoring the .dat file from a week old backup (when it was working fine) and restarting. No success - there is only a circular arrow to be seen.
installing latest Copyq using hluk/copyq repository & trying again - this time Copyq shows a short message about tab corruption with ability to choose but then aborts & exits
Using command line export does not work
copyq importData ./copyq_tab_WndpcyZjaGVuYWJsYWdl.dat
ScriptError: Datei „./copyq_tab_WndpcyZjaGVuYWJsYWdl.dat“ kann nicht importiert werden!

Please help. I have run out of ideas how to restore the content.

Can you share logs (F12 shortcut from the main window)? There should be some information about the failure reading/loading the data file.
Also, if the tab was encrypted or synchronized to a directory (Synchronize plugin), make sure you have plugins installed. If you open Item configuration tab in CopyQ, it should list some plugins (like "Encryption" and "Synchronize"). I think there is a separate package copyq-plugins in Ubuntu official package repository.
BTW, importData (and exportData) uses different file format than the .dat files.
Thank you hluk for your participation. In the meantime I managed to find an older copy of the .dat files and was able to restore the tab in question with minimal loss.
