where is "Zones" in the channel editing dialog?

See screenshot: I downloaded the codeplug from my opengd77 DM1701 and some channels have "Zones", but I don't see how to change it in the editing dialog. The Scan List combobox is empty FWIW; not sure if that should be related or not.

Also there's a layout bug: the CTSS spinbox does not fill the height of the row like it should. I have to resize the dialog a little to be able to see and adjust it. But that's another bug.

Oh I see it's a matter of assigning channels to zones instead of the other way around.

Yes, it is just a column to get an overview, to which zone each channel is assigned to. Just to spot "unused" channels. Usually, one can only access channels, that are assigned to a zone.

Maybe it would make sense to have the UI able to adjust it from either end? another combobox there to set the zone... but I don't know.

I went back to the Windows CPS again, but that's also buggy, and/or I don't know what I'm doing; so I can "kerchunk" the local DMR repeater now (I think!), and I have channels corresponding to talk groups (although I read somewhere that you need only one channel per repeater, and adjust talk groups some other way?); but when I call CQ on any of those, I don't see it show up on the brandmeister hoseline, and don't get any replies either. On the Windows CPS, I cannot choose brandmeister and a talk group at the same time: setting one unsets the other. And I wonder if the repeater only allows 3 talkgroups anyway. Something to ask the local club in person I guess.

But Zones are supposed to just be geographical regions, right? So you switch zones when you're on the road and get out of range of the home repeaters, to another zone that has appropriate local repeaters set up for where you are?

Uff, yes. There is a lot to unpack. If it helps, I've written a brief introduction into DMR. Unfortunately, OpenGD77 handles everything quiet differently compared to other firmwares. I also don't know a proper manual written for OpenGD77 that describes its concepts properly.

But yes, if the repeater is not that busy, you can get away with a single channel for each repeater. If it is busy with many active talk groups, you will need one channel per talk group for that repeater.

In https://github.com/LibreDMR/OpenGD77_UserGuide/blob/master/OpenGD77_User_Guide.md#overview there are some notes about the different concepts - in this specific case, however, according to https://brandmeister.network/?page=repeater&id=242101 the repeater seems to have lost its connection to the network, which would explain why there are no answers.
