Describe the bug
The problem appeared after upgrading dash-to-panel to the latest version (64).

When returning to the desktop after the screen has blanked or been locked, the original gnome-shell dash shows up.

Enabling and then disabling the 'Keep original gnome-shell dash' option in the dash-to-panel settings gets rid of it, but only until the screen is locked again.

Linux distribution and version
Ubuntu 24.04

GNOME Shell version
46.0

Dash-to-Panel version
64

Where was Dash-to-Panel installed from?
The GNOME extensions website

Disabling Ubuntu Dock ([email protected]) fixes it.

For some reason I couldn't disable it from the extensions app. I had to rename /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/[email protected]to /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/[email protected]

thanks @chipshopness,

renaming Ubuntu Dock seems to work.

I tried directly removing gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock with apt, which also removes gnome-desktop-minimal and possibly firefox if you have it installed through apt. So far so good.

I can also make the dock temporarily go away by going into Extensions and disabling then enabling any extension.

It seems to me that it is also a bug that turning off the dock extension does not cause the dock to go away anymore. I filed a bug on Ubuntu but I don't know how they'll react.

Note, the Ubuntu bug respondent thinks this might be connected:

Kind of interesting, this actually does occur only when the screen locks (either because you manually lock it or because the computer entered an energy save mode). It doesn't occur when you boot up and log in, and it doesn't occur if you intentionally log out and then back in.

Could you try the master branch on Ubuntu? A fix was added for the double dock on screen lock.
