Since it always takes some time before new Homie conventions are implemented and supported in various software packages, I'd think it would be a welcome feature for the validator to support multiple versions. In the end, the first thing the validator could do is check the $homie property, and next apply the correct validator.
In the end I'm looking for the 3.0 validator since that is the one currently supported by OpenHab.
