This issue is for discussing if it's syntactical/semantically correct and also technically feasible to include a nested hierarchy of synoynms, starting with inserting "chemical synonym type" between the base one and "International Nonproprietary Name". Reference:

Have you tried nested synonym types in OBO format ontologies? I never have. @balhoff should also take a look at this, and @cmungall because this may open the flood doors to a lot of very specific synonym types, and I cant approve of this all alone..

Here's the line to add to the template if this is possible:

OMO:0003011	owl:AnnotationProperty	chemical synonym	A grouping synonym type for various chemical synonyms. Do not use directly.	oboInOwl:SynonymType	https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4423-4370	2023-09-30	Some chemical synonym types include the International Nonproprietary Name (INN; heavily used in ChEBI), the Australian Approved Name (AAN), and others.	https://github.com/information-artifact-ontology/ontology-metadata/issues/149
